Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017 Faulty Towers The Dining Experience -The Principal (Venue 119) 19-21 George Street REview Monday 21st August

HOMEPAGE FRINGE 2017 PAGE PAST REVIEWS 2017 PAST REVIEWS 2016

We had the most extraordinary lunch yesterday in a delightful venue hosted by a rather strange man, his wife and a loveable waiter who could hardly speak a word of English let alone serve customers.

On our arrival we were greeted by Manuel the fumbling Spanish waiter who was attempting to serve the guests.  Our host Basil soon arrived and took charge of the situation, we were then introduced to Sybil the real person in charge and our experience had begun.

The show was a delight. Interactive sounds a bit daunting, but as the three course meal got underway it was quite apparent as to how much you could get involved.  If you are a fan of the show you won't be disappointed, there are a number of familiar sketches that play out superbly in between the food, fire extinguishers and flying nuts.

It's hard to single out any one performance as all three play the characters to great effect. The interactions between the each of them is a joy to watch and it felt like we could have been in that Torquay hotel.

This is the 10th year at the fringe and with its sister performance The Wedding Reception I would recommend getting tickets whilst you still can, it was worth it just for “Basssssilllll and Yes Dear!” Oh and don’t mention the war.
